Bible verses for peace

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Peace protects inner life in Christ.

Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing.

The shepherd's sufficiency grounds the calm of Psalm 23.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

Rest is guided rather than forced.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

Jesus connects rest with learning his gentle way.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

Peace is promised to people still living through exile.
